One designer just didn’t fit on ‘Runway’
The designers worked in teams of three to update old fashion trends, and had to make their three garments work together cohesively. Updating shoulder pads, baggy sweaters and dance wear didn’t work for Chris’ team. As his teammate Steven pointed out, their collection was “a little fragmented; very separated.” Most significantly, the jacket Chris constructed for his model to wear “didn’t fit, it was old fashioned, the fabric was ugly,” as Michael Kors said. “It was very bad pageant, mother of the bride, just old fashioned.” Guest judge Donna Karan summed it up well: “The point is, as a team leader, how could you be a leader if you can’t lead yourself?” Because of that failure to both lead and design, Chris was out.
