Lewis Black “Anticipation” in stores August 5th

LEWIS BLACK FORSEES! COMEDY CENTRAL RECORDS® TO RELEASE LEWIS BLACK’S “ANTICIPATION” CD ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 5

NEW YORK, July 22, 2008 – Expect the uninspected with Lewis Black’s new release, “Anticipation,“ Lewis Black’s new CD on COMEDY CENTRAL Records to be released Tuesday, August 5

Back from his Grammy Award win for best Comedy Album 2006 on his previous album (“The Carnegie Hall Performance”), “Anticipation” finds Black in a mellower mood. Having found that after a decade or two of leaving audiences alternately rolling the aisles with his vicious and perfectly-aimed political onslaughts, Black’s decided that his fans need a sunnier topic or two.

On the new CD, Black does lament the fact that the only appropriate candidate for the highest office in this land is the universally loved Santa Claus. Black spends the bulk of his time in kinder, gentler territory, while still keeping up his trademark frenetic pace and subtle, masterful call-backs. Virginity, golf, Las Vegas and the ever-popular Chanukah are some of the topics that come in for the truth-revealing rants that only Black can do. “Anticipation” leaves listeners wetting themselves while also whetting their appetites for Black’s inevitable evisceration of his next juicy victim - slated for selection in November 2008.

As “America’s Foremost Commentator on Everything,” Lewis Black is a political commentator on COMEDY CENTRAL’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and has starred in four top-rated comedy specials for the network. In the past few years, he has also released two hugely popular books, toured all over the world and starred in many movies. Black’s first three CDs are consistent sellers and have sold 130,000+, 100,000, and 150,000+ units respectively in a very short period of time. His new COMEDY CENTRAL show, “Root Of All Evil,” is a hit and returns for a second season on July 30.

Black is one of the nation’s top standup comics and has done numerous films. Television appearances include “Caroline’s Comedy Hour,” “Evening at the Improv,” “The A‑List,” “Live from Tompkins Square Park,” “Comic Cabana,” “Make Me Laugh,” “Comedy Showcase,” “The Murphy Brown Show,” “Hoop Life” (Showtime) and is seen regularly on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.” He received the award for “Best Male Stand-Up” at The American Comedy Awards in 2001 and has released a stan-up special for HBO. He is preparing the material on this CD for a Broadway run.
