No Reservations – NYC
As a teenager growing up just outside New York City, Manhattan – to Tony – was like living a dream. And there were institutions in that dream, some of which are still going strong, some of which are hanging on by a thread and some luck, and some of which have since disappeared. In an effort to remember ‘his’ Manhattan, Tony visits some of his favorites while he still can.
In this episode titled DISAPPEARING MANHATTAN, Tony and some notable guests visit some of the oldest, most classic, and undoubtedly-NY restaurants. These cherished landmarks, such as Katz’s Deli, Russ & Daughters, Hop Kee, and Sammy’s Romanian, have become the heart and soul of this great city and its proud and honorable culinary history rich with cultural and ethnic diversity. Unfortunately, due to the changing times, these establishments are in danger of disappearing off the NYC cultural map. Tony refers to this beautiful episode as his love song to the great city of New York.
Watch Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations Disappearing Manhattan Monday, February 23 at 10pm EST on the Travel Channel.
Speaking of NYC – the Travel Channel is launching a new Facebook app – No Reservations: Hungry For More on Monday, February 23 – with a chance to win a trip to New York. The only people that have access to the application until then are the Travel Chanel team, but we wanted our faithful bloggers to be able to get a sneak peek.
The app is all about creating, searching and writing reviews of your favorite locales. You gain points by writing reviews, whether it’s of your favorite pizza joint around the corner or a museum you went to in Europe. Each month, there will be a winner based on the top 5 reviews, as rated by other users, which will be judged by the Travel Channel. The winning review will receive an assortment of goodies in an “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” prize pack (DVDs, autograph, etc.).
At the end of the year, there will be a grand prize, which is a trip to NYC. Tony personally chose all of the highlights and locations of the trip, so you know it will be a good one.
If you are on Facebook, please enjoy the preview weekend (really, it’s only being sent out to my list of bloggers)! Make sure you are logged in before accessing!
