Leonard Ready to Step into Ring
Sugar Ray Leonard Jr. has always had a unique view into the world of celebrity. On July 24, he’ll add to that wide-ranging resume.
The oldest son and namesake of legendary Hall of Fame boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, Ray Jr. has had large shoes to fill, and he’s filled them admirably.
Ray Jr. excelled in football and track & field, becoming a two sport Division I-A collegiate athlete.
On July 24, Ray Jr. will add a third sport to his pantheon of skills.
Leonard will step into the ring as a headliner for Celebrity Boxing Ten: When Worlds Collide, fighting an opponent TBA.
“The only opponent I have to fear is me,” Leonard said. “As long as I’m in good shape, physically and mentally, it doesn’t matter who joins me in the ring.”
Former baseball slugger Jose Canseco will also headline, as he dukes it out with Bill “El Wingador” Simmons, the WIP Wing Bowl champ.
This electric fight card will take place at The Ice Works Skating Complex in Aston on Friday, July 24 at 8:00 p.m.
As if that wasn’t enough, Canseco will appear at an after-fight party at the Wharf Tavern in Aston to help select the winner of a “Win a Date with Jose Canseco” contest.
Via random drawing, five lucky ladies will be eligible to be picked by the newly-single Jose as his date.
